I have tried some competitor's products and Timber Ninja's boot insulator covers are made of higher-grade material, are easier to put on in the field and offer superior insulation. Would definitely recommend these for late season sits.
It is great and as advertised, however the cuffs are so tight unless I am wearing short sleeves I have trouble getting my hands in past the wrist. Also the front pockets are sewn on with some the orange visible from the outside. contact me at [****] if you want pictures. Otherwise I like it.
From the very first wash, this shirt has proven to be an essential for any outdoor adventure. It's the perfect go-to piece to throw on after a long day, whether you've been working hard in the field or at the office. Comfortable doesn't even begin to describe it!
I am super impressed with this product after spending the late 2025 season trying to find the best way to keep my hands warm in fingerless gloves in a saddle set up with other muffs. I wanted to give a fairly in-depth review with some gear identification to give an idea of the dimensions and what can be put in this muff/storage combo. It is well constructed, zippers work well, etc. The warmer itself is neoprene and the attached magnetic enclosure/pockets is almost like a very soft corduroy. The magnets work well and are quiet. The warmer hand openings are generous.
I walked the dog last night in a pair of Sitka liner gloves (I wear a size large) and had no issues getting my hands in and out of the warmer, with the cinch completely open or slightly cinched. Additionally, with a 6' slip lead, electronic hand warmers, a bag of treats, an e-collar remote, and a roll of poop bags, there was a slight sway of the hand warmer back-and-forth while walking with my hands outside the warmer at about a 15-minute per mile pace, but it wasn't bad and didn't make any noise. I'm sure with some additional tinkering on where you have the warmer on your body while walking in, the sway could be eliminated entirely but I had it slung pretty low to see whether there was side-to-side sway.
While I haven't tested in a saddle, I plan on using this as a replacement for a bino harness or bino hanging system in the tree while saddle hunting. The bigger binos in the photos, a pair of Vortex 8x42 Viper HDs, fit in the larger of the two pockets under the magnetic flap at the front of the warmer. Those were a bit of a tight fit when turning them sideways to close the zipper but it wasn't too difficult to close. You do lose a little volume in the smaller front pocket but I could still fit a wind checker and a Black Diamond head lamp (storm 500-r maybe?), and they fit quite easily in the bigger dump pouch.
The remainder of the photos show what I intend to run to give an idea of size. I am able to comfortably fit a pair of Vortex 6.5x32 Bantam HDs (the Vortex child binoculars, great for saddle hunting in heavy cover on public land) and a Vortex Viper HD 3000 rangefinder in the bigger of the two front pockets and am able to close it comfortably. There is no loss of volume for the smaller pocket in the front containing the wind checker and headlamp in the front pocket.
The pictures with me wearing the warmer are configured so that my rangefinder and grunt tube are in the big dump pouch, the binoculars are in the bigger of the two magnetic closure pockets, and my headlamp and wind checker in smaller pocket under the magnetic flap. With everything closed walking into the tree, it's not too large and doesn't stick out too far from your body. You can flip the magnetic flap over into the zippered dump pouch, which is fairly voluminous, and sort of presents you with 3 "levels" of access in the tree. With this set up, the hand warmer isn't heavy and there is plenty of additional room so that I could add electronic or old school hand warmers, a merino neck buff/face cover, and a pair of gloves/extra gloves.
Having the option to run it with a waist belt or the carabiners to clip into your bridge loops really provides some great options for a saddle hunter while also having secondary uses such as using it with a waist belt while ground hunting or hunting out of a tree stand (or walking the dog when it's cold!). It's definitely something that will be very useful for late-season saddle hunting, and I would highly recommend making the purchase.
I've been considering a hybrid saddle/hang on platform for a while, but never wanted to commit because of the bulk and weight. The Kunai fits the bill perfectly. Without the seat post, I'm able to have enough room to stand and fully rotate, making offside shots much more doable. It folds up perfectly to be able to strap to my pack with my sticks, taking up less room than most other platforms, without weighing much more. The way it's designed makes it possible to keep it level in crooked trees that wouldn't be possible with a traditional saddle platform.
Would definitely recommend.
With the most innovative hunter focused features and designs all packed into the most comfortable saddle known to man this is my forever saddle. 100%
I’ve enjoyed the saddle so far regarding both comfort, weight, and usability. I don’t have much to compare to as it’s my first one. I did have some minor (non-safety related) stitches pop for which I contacted customer service and they replaced my saddle ASAP based on the pictures even though cosmetic.
I don’t like the design of the straps on the sides which are for holding straps as they’re very easy to lose.
It’s a 4.5/5 for me, very close to 5/5. First use was on a marsh scouting and supply run in appx 28° weather. Ripping 30mph on glass to our spot left tears which froze on my lashes. Tested without gloves or liners and my hands were more than comfortable in that wind. Pockets are solid for basics like keys, license, some shells, and phone. I have three verrrry small nitpicks which make up the half-star. 1- Love the green, but would like a few more color options. 2- the openings for your hands are good, not perfect for those with big hands. Given there’s an awesome cinch to narrow the size a little extra here would have been nice. If I try to use this with even thinner gloves, I’m not getting in one-handed. 3- durability concerns (tbd), I can see the soft fuzzy material getting roughed up when climbing trees for saddle, or poking through marsh to get to a good vantage point. Keep up the good work TN!
Between the Kunai platform and these steps. Makes climbing the tree and setting the platform a breeze.
Just delivered today. Absolutely a great design, precisely made and right here in the USA!
Great for keeping noise down light wight
I've got no shortage of climbing sticks, but a few things stand out with these.
1. The magnetic attachment style to stack them as 2's or 4's pending your pack layout is the slickest and quietest on the market
2. Not fully confirmed yet, but unlike other very expensive sticks, I don't think I will have to stealth tape the entire thing for them to be acceptably quiet
3 Thoughtful small features like the elastic bunjee on the end of the amsteel strap to emliminate loose tag ends as well as the glowing caps on each end of the stick
Top tier product.
Quality of SSP is excellent, need to get past this ice storm to do some field testing for an honest review.
I needed to lighten my setup and I decided to start with sticks. I was about to checkout with a set of 1 sticks. In effort to avoid a ton of stealth stripping, I returned to the C2s. I am so glad I went this direction. I have made probably 10-15 sits with them with. All I have done is Tessa tape the magnets and I have no problems staying quiet. I’m 165 and wear a 9-1/2 boot. These sticks give me enough room to be comfortable climbing. There is a slight give in the steps but it doesn’t bother me at all. They don’t feel weak. Lastly these things bite well. The picture tells all. That is a metal bolster with no slip and no damage to the teeth
I ordered these as soon as they came out on the website, and it was just in time to receive them for the end of PA rifle season which was nice and cold! I let the kids use them first. Their review was that they actually worked. It was the first time my buddies daughter didn’t get cold feet in the morning, which was 14 degrees for the first 5 hours of the hunt before we started drives.
They are light and very easy to get your boot inside, especially compared to previous boot insulators I’ve tried. Nice and quiet material on the sides. I can’t wait to try them out in the late season and see how they work while I’m hunting out of my saddle and standing on the platform. Also the little pouch inside works great for putting a large body warmer inside!!
It’s nice to see a hunting company put the time and effort into putting a great product out there for hunters!! Thank you!!
Haven’t used yet on a hunt. But super solid construction and so much adjustment. I couldn’t make myself uncomfortable in a tree at home.
Light weight and works amazing! No more cold feet ! Home run Timber Ninja!!!
HUGE improvement over my artic shield boot covers I was using. These are quiet, lighter weight, more packable and work better
I like it haven’t used it yet.
Only used once so far, but there just what you’d expect! Warm and not bulky as well as very packable and easy to put on.
Fantastic handwarmers on steroids! Besides being warm, they have excellent storage for essential items as well as a couple different methods of attachment. Very well thought out.
